The Mayor’s Office and the City Council of the City of Houston also acknowledge Mr. Ballard’s community involvement with awards for achievement. Nominated personally by the Mayor of Houston for three separate appointments, Mr. Ballard is a ten-year veteran of the Citizen Review Committee Board of the Houston Police Department for the City of Houston. Through this leadership position Mr. Ballard brought positive changes to the department, supporting the Mayors’ efforts to connect communities with law enforcement. Mr. Ballard advises and continues to serve Harris County Sheriff Department as community liaison, and currently serves on the advisory board of Bering Omega Community Services; a position he has held for six years after serving as a member of the Board of Trustees. In 2012, Mr. Ballard graduated from the Victory Fund Institute in Washington, D.C. and his team was celebrated with the Victory Award. Most recently, Mr. Ballard is a Graduate of Leadership Houston, Class 31, and he continues to build on that success post-laureate with the Leadership Houston Alumni. Brooks Ballard earned his undergraduate degree in Finance from Pacific Western University and also attended HBU with emphasis in business. Brooks also is involved with the 911 Heroes Run that happens every year as commemoration of Sept. 11 in conjunction with the Travis Menion Foundation. Travis Manion Foundation gives assistance to not only our veterans but also our first responders. Travis Manion Foundation was founded by Col. Tom Manion after his son First Lt. Travis Manion was shot and killed in Iraq.
